Fundraising Goal is $150,000

Our goal for 2023 is to raise $150k to create camp interactivity (want to try a sticky wall? Swing on by!), upgrade the drivetrain to new more reliable motor controllers, create a cuddle chill space in the Robot, upgrade and repair our Gecko splines, convert our Caboose trailer to Gecko scales, build out the rear foot, replace the backup generators and cooling units, upgrade the house DJ deck, improve the wireless link between the vehicles and speakers, upgrade the flame thrower, and more!

If we raise at least $1,000 per camp member, we can get there!

We have made it easier with these strategies:

EMPLOYER MATCHING

Many employers offer charitable matching programs. Many will match your donations 1:1. Some even offer 2:1 matching, tripling the amount of your donation. Some of those same companies will provide cash donations for hours volunteered, too! If you’re fortunate enough to work for an employer that offers one of these programs, remember to submit your matching request.

We are listed in Benevity and YouCaring for employers using that matching program.

Donate Stock

You may also donate stock!

If you’re fortunate enough to have investments that have appreciated significantly in value, then giving stock can be a smart way to donate. If you sell stock, depending on your tax situation and how much the stock has gone up, you could owe as much as 1/3 in tax. For example, you might sell $3000 worth of stock, owe $1000 in tax on that sale, leaving you with $2000.

If instead you donated the stock itself to DreamMakers, then, as a 501(c)(3) non profit organization, DreamMakers can sell that stock tax-free. DreamMakers gets the full $3000. You also get to deduct $3000 on your tax return, which could result in as much as $1500 reduction in your tax bill, instead of the $2000 net you would have received from selling the stock. The end result is that, at a net cost to you of about $500, DreamMakers receives $3000. That may sound too good to be true, but such are the quirks of the US tax code incentives to encourage charitable donations, so take advantage of it if you can. If you need advice about how this would apply in your specific tax situation, please consult a tax professional.

Each brokerage generally has its own form for stock transfers. For example, if you're an E*Trade customer, go to Accounts (top tab bar) → Documents (second-level tab bar) → Forms & Applications (drop-down menu) → Transfers and Distributions → Charitable Donation. For other brokerage firms, please contact them for their instructions.
